Sorry new blog page (easier for me to post pictures on):  www.emariemoero.blogspot.com THANKS!

As the 5th week of UCI’s second quarter comes to a close, freshman are taking the passenger seat; enjoying the comfort, spending time to take in their surroundings, and realizing they have been tired!  Being Honors students, the freshmen of Loma in particular must gauge their progress, reevaluate their schedules, and often with frustration accept their limits.  Necessary as it is, it can spell dryness for campus ministry.  The Bible discussions were still being held at Loma on Tuesdays, but we weren’t seeing anyone new come out.  It was beginning to get too comfortable, too exclusive.  We needed change.

Calling together the 3 core students in Loma, Vivian and I asked for feedback on the discussion.  I had planned to lead the meeting towards a more outward focus by giving examples in scripture, illustrating the goal of spiritual generations, and directly asking each of them to reach out to a friend.  I almost didn’t need to spend so much time planning!  They were all on the same page with me!  As a result, we spend every other Tuesday making sure to get dinner with the other residents and praying over opportunities to open up conversations that are God focused.  Please pray for these three; Sarah, Jared, and Charllotte, for courage, confidence, and conviction.

About 3 weeks ago Kristine and I took some beach crusers down Newport Beach and visited 1,000 Steps Beach in Laguna.  (There are actually 200 steps)!

Slideshows are easier for me to make.  I still don’t get blogging!  And the slideshow doesn’t work either.  I think there’ll be some changes with my blog site, it’ll probably end up being switched to something fool proof.

I just got back from ten days in South Carolina visiting my family for Christmas and New Years.  I’m still not feeling ready to take on this coming quarter but here it comes regardless!  Dave, our campus director just lost his dad this past week so please pray for their family as they take care of Dave’s mom and the funeral plans.  It was very unexpected.

If you’ve received my most recent newsletter, I reffered to going to the Bjork concert in LA.  Nothing I write can do it justice, so if want to know what I mean by freedom of an artist’s expression, check out this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgk360PZJ7w&feature=related  Its NOT one of the strangest either!  Good stuff.

I’m going to try to make a scheldule this quarter that will force me to take time away from ministry.  I guess you could say that is my New Year’s Resoluation!  I’m hoping to really find a consistent cycling ride to join this quarter.  I joined the bike club at UCI thinking it would be a great way to meet people and possibly do ministry in, but the riders are so far out of my league there seems to be only one ride I can keep up with.  And its on the morning of our staff meeting.  Hopefully God will provide some alternative because riding alone is not pleasant for me!

It has been unbelievably busy this past…month.  The ministry has been going well for me.  I’m in Loma a couple times each week and am meeting up one on one with two girls throughout the week.

LIVE MUSIC

One Tuesday night after the Bible discussion in the dorm I get a call from a student who usually shows up to the study.  I answered just as I was getting ready to leave and I’m so glad I did because she happened to have an extra ticket to a concert that was starting in 10 minutes on campus!  I didn’t even know there was a concert, but who passes up free live music??  So I book it over there, check my phone, Switchfootand Kristine from UCLA texts me: “Why aren’t you at the Switchfoot concert at UCI??”  So cool I got to see Switchfoot with students and run into Kristine and her students from UCLA!

THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving for me is always at my Grandma’s in Beaver, PA (40 minutes outside Pittsburgh).  It was a great vacation away from Irvine.  Football, food, family, and sleep the only thing missing was my cousin Jenny who couldn’t make it out from LA this year.

TIVIAN’S BRIDAL SHOWER

Early December was Tivian’s shower and it was in the most amazing house ever.  I don’t have photos of the view, but it was of the Newport Coast, ocean, and Catalina Island! Tivian's Shower

I brought the espresso machine of course.  Girls at the Shower

Tivian is one of those people who will listen to you without ever judging you.  She never pushes advice, but gives great words of wisdom always at the right time.  I don’t see her much but know I can be real when I’m with her.  Thanks Tivs and congrats!  ♥
